Attorney Profile
John Regan is a founding partner of Regan Strom, P.C. and a five-time Super Lawyers Rising Star, a distinction awarded to only the top 2.5% of all eligible attorneys. He has a diverse complex litigation practice where he primarily represents individuals in a broad variety of disputes against larger corporations.
For more than a decade, John has focused his practice on complex business and employment litigation matters, with a particular focus litigating class actions on behalf of employees and consumers. John has successfully litigated class actions on behalf of tens of thousands of individuals for wage and hour and consumer protection violations, helping them to collectively recover millions of dollars.
In 2019, John was co-lead counsel on the landmark employment case Sullivan v. Sleepy’s, which clarified rules regarding the payment of inside sales employees in Massachusetts. Prior to the decision, a myriad of Massachusetts-based businesses — such as car dealerships and furniture stores — were improperly compensating their employees by withholding overtime payments. Sleepy’s ultimately led Massachusetts employers to return tens of millions of dollars to employees across the state.
Currently, he is class counsel for the Plaintiffs in a 27,000-member certified class-action in Massachusetts Superior Court involving allegations that a home heating oil supplier was diluting its fuel in ways that made it less valuable and harmful to customers’ equipment. John is simultaneously prosecuting claims on behalf of the Class in federal court alleging that the heating oil supplier’s insurance companies are unreasonably refusing to pay for the property damage the diluted heating oil caused.
In addition to his class action practice, John regularly brings cases on behalf of individuals for claims involving independent contractor misclassification, wage violations, workplace discrimination, harassment and retaliation, wrongful termination, fraud, breach of contract and more. He has secured numerous large settlements and judgments on behalf of his individual clients.
Since just 2018, John has successfully recovered over $20 million on behalf of his clients and the Class members they represent.
John is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts as well as the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. In addition, he has successfully obtained awards for his clients in various arbitration settings, including with AAA (American Arbitration Association).
Before starting Regan Strom, P.C., John was a partner at a Boston-based boutique litigation firm that focused on plaintiff-side employment and business litigation matters. In 2024, he teamed up with his good friends and fellow attorneys, Jeffrey Strom and Jay Livingstone, to found Regan Strom.
John lives on the South Shore with his wife and young daughter.
